T O P I C R E V I E WPluto29Looking to buy some Retro Space CDs. You ask why don't I just buy them from their website? Because I'm looking for a deal. If you have one you think I might be interested in please email me. Thanks.schnappsicleI purchased the Apollo 15 CD hoping for high-resolution photos, but all I got was the same photos and the same quality that was available for free on ALSJ site. I wanted the second Station 2 pan. For some reason, no one has ever put the complete pan together. I managed to piece together the pan from the images on the disc, but I was very disappointed to say the least.Instead of buying more discs, I'm waiting until the real hi-res Apollo photos are available on the ASU website.J.LGreetings, I have a couple of things to say regarding these two letters. First, I frequently provide discounted prices when contacted. Generally this is done when someone is ordering multiple discs. You never know until you contact me.Second, regarding the gentleman from Houston. I am sorry that the EVA image resolution did not meet your requirements. If that is the only reason you purchased the disc for, you probably should have inquired ahead of time. I would have sent the files for free, or made an attempt at getting you a higher-res file. I do that. Also, the strength in these discs lies primarily in the pre and post flight imagery from each mission. Most people know where to find the in-flight material for free. I just include them on the disc to "complete" the mission, and package it up in one convenient place.Third, as has been mentioned before by my friend from Spacecraft Films, if you ever have a beef with an image disc, e-mail me directly at roverpick@aol.com. You never know what nice things can happen when you are a cordial customer. I will get to you promptly and "fix" any issue you have. J.L. PickeringRetro Space ImagesschnappsicleI did e-mail you before I bought the disc and I explained to you what I was looking for. In response, you sent me a few "samples" of the individual photos in the pan I wanted. I was led to believe, perhaps by wishful thinking, that the images on the disc were better quality than the samples. I'm not as knowledgeable as most people when it comes to getting free hi-res photos. The few sites I looked had some, but not all of the photos I needed for that particular panorama. I decided to buy the disc because I thought that was the only way I could get the pan. Had you offered to send just the pan photos, I definitely would have taken you up on your offer.mmmoo quote:Originally posted by schnappsicle:I purchased the Apollo 15 CD hoping for high-resolution photos, ...I wanted the second Station 2 pan. Moonpans has assembled the complete Apollo 15 Station 2 pan as 360 degree drag-around VR panorama movie and also as a print showing about 230 degrees. Is this the Pan you are referring to?Joel KatzowitzEven though it's probably not necessary, I'd like to say that I've dealt with J.L. for many years and I've had nothing but great experiences with him. I've bought numerous items from him and have also asked for information about a particular image or two. Many times, unsolicited, he's responded by sending me the image. He's a guy who definitely goes above and beyond to further our hobby.4allmankindSame here. JL has gone above and beyond with me as well. Because of that, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase from him in the future. Pluto29I have purchased from Retro as well. Always been nice to me.I posted this want ad because I was looking to buy some CD's for a deal. I want the entire shuttle collection and thought If someone wanted to sell their individual CD I would buy one. That's it... that's all there is to it.Sam QueI have also bought several of the discs and have always been very satisfied. When I purchased a group of disc I was bold enough to see if I could receive a discounted price. JL was very reasonable in providing a discount. Additionally, the quality of the files are great.
